My own Head Lice Nightmare

UkuBusters® was born out of my own nightmarish experiences of contracting head lice myself.
I got lice the first time as a single parent in 1991.
I had a huge infestation, and must have given it to my young son, as he had very few. I could get the nits out of my son’s short, fine hair, but not in mine. 
 

 

It wouldn’t go away no matter what chemical pesticidal treatments I used. I was mortified, ashamed, and itched dreadfully. I had no one to help me, or even care. Fearing giving the lice to others, I wore my hair up continually in a hat, and did not want to hug or get close to anyone. The‘nightmare from hell’ lasted six months. I spent hours and hours washing sheets and clothes. Some of the most desperate moments in my life, was me, looking in the bathroom mirror, trying to see if I still had nits in my hair.

             
               
     
     
     
     
     
 
   

I even sprayed my our mattress and pillow with a pesticidal lice spray.
( Please, tell every one NOT to do this )

My hair became dry like straw from the repeated pesticidal lice treatments, and my hair shed dandruff for months, as if I was raining snow.

I had no one to turn to, to ‘nitpick my head’.I was lost and alone, with my dreadful nightmare.

I read  the lice info. sheets over and over, thinking that I must be missing something. And I certainly was. I did not have the right equipment,  know-how or an effective natural treatment.

Five years later, and head lice were back again.
This time I had five people to get head lice out of!
There was my boyfriend, his two young daughters, myself, and my beau’s ex!
It took me four months of daily nitpicking to clear the two girls, and many sessions nitpicking my beau's ex. It was awful.
It took me four months before I was clear of head lice from my own head.
It again was a living nightmare.
                       
             
           
           
           

 

In 1997, a neighbour named Eve, (no kidding) asked me if I’d help her ‘nitpick’ her head. She was battling lice on her daughter, but had no one to help her with her hair, as her boyfriend couldn’t see the nits (a common occurrence I was to learn). I enjoyed helping her, and decided then and there that I would help others get out of nightmare of head lice. (Eve, where are you?)

After I had been delousing people professionally for a couple of years, the two girls got lice again. (their school let kids stay in school with lice, so hence lice was a big problem at school).
Instead of it taking me 4 months, it took 2 days to succeed at the task of complete lice elimination of the two girls with thin hair to shoulders.

Now, after ten years of providing professional nitpicking service to hundreds of people I can eliminate all lice and nits in a person with thin, long hair in 2 to 3 hours. (a goal you may wish to know is possible and one to aspire to.)

People (like yourself?) are still going through what I went through back in 1991. And in 1997.

Nothing has changed, except the lice are more resistant than ever to the pesticides.
