Back in 1927 or so, 2 or 3 Miconia trees were given as a gift
to the Tahitian Aborteum.
Now 70% of Tahiti's forests are a Miconia thicket. ( gulp)
Miconia is such a heavy water drinker, that the trees have almost drank up the
fresh water
aquifiers of Tahiti. It will happen here if we don't spend the money to control
the infestation.
